Digital Divide

digital divide

“They’re extremely computer-illiterate, but that doesn’t mean that they’re not tech-savvy,” Warzala said of her students. “They’re all over Twitter but they don’t know how to save a Word document.”

Sites Review

Overall, I think all 3 of the websites have artistic designs to them (all different). I was first overwhelmed by all the colors and pictures and designs and buttons when I loaded up the three websites, but browsing through them was interesting.

In the beginning, I think I developed a habit of searching for the "About Us" link. DYN was the only site that had a visible tab to it. Arts Edge had it at the bottom where there's the usual list of possible links. I couldn't find it on the PBS Learning Media page, which I didn't realize until I started writing this. I didn't look for it originally because I already had a basic understanding of PBS, and also got overwhelmed by the massive lists when browsing by grades + subjects. I did have fun eventually skimming through some of the results!

sidenote: DYN's website takes a while to load, and I think it's because the pages are full of pictures and design that are all pretty big files (I don't have the correct terminology to explain this, but hopefully it made sense..)

About a week ago, I was introduced to the show, and decided to give it a try. Personally, I enjoyed it, but especially liked the colors in it. And found this link! I thought it'd be interesting to share since we've recently talked about colors.
