Hi Jenn, Thanks for these links. Are there any Tumblrs you can point to specifically as favorites? Is there a reason you don't Tumbl(sp?) yourself? What makes Tumblr a compelling way to look at/think about collections?

I've always had a tough time with tumblr. I think certain social media platforms lend themselves better to certain things and sometimes, certain personality types. For me, Tumblr is fun to look at, fun to consider as a collection space, but I can't ever seem to get myself posting on it. My tumblr has languished sadly for some time. :) But would be interested to hear your responses to Ellen's questions.

ReplyDeleteSame thing for me as well! I gave tumblr a few tries in the past few years, but quickly stopped. I decided recently that I'd try using tumblr as a casual photo/art/random facts-type of way to spend time online instead of trying to be a part of it.
ReplyDeleteI think one of the reasons I found it difficult to continue is because personally, I used internet more as a way to collect resources and then create my own collections. I save my collections of online findings inside files and folders on my laptop and external instead. I thought of creating gifs or collections through Tumblr, but it seemed too public for me. I think that's why using tumblr didn't work out, but I like scrolling through it because it's a collection of random things and ideas that I don't usually think of on my own. (I don't know if that makes sense..)
